ARMSTRONG - Firefighters were on scene approximately fours hours Wednesday evening in Armstrong taking care of a fire at the Stateline Cooperative elevator.
According to Armstrong Fire Chief Greg Buum, neighbors saw smoke coming out of the top of the elevator around 8 p.m.
Buum said upon arrival firefighters saw an orange glow in the pit where the grain is dropped.

Firefighters put foam on it.
"Once the heat was knocked down we also foamed the 'legs' at the bottom," said Buum.
Buum estimated that process took a couple hours. Firefighters were on the scene until around midnight making sure that nothing else was burning.
"I'm glad it happened before it got dark and people could see it," said Buum.
Fairmont and Swea City fire departments also assisted at the scene. Ringsted Ambulance, the Armstrong Police, Emmet County Sheriff's Department and Iowa State Patrol also responded.
