Dr. Anthony Cook has joined Avera Holy Family of Estherville. He will start seeing patients July 18.
Dr. Cook grew up in Pierce, Neb. and graduated with a degree in biology and chemistry from Mt. Marty College in Yankton, S.D. He received his medical degree from Creighton School of Medicine in Omaha and did his residency at the Clarkson Family Medicine at the Nebraska Medical center in Omaha. During his residency he worked in the emergency room in Seward, Neb. and in urgent care in Omaha.
Dr. Cook will practice in family medicine and emergency and he will work with staff to resume the obstetrical program at Avera Holy Family, along with support from Spirit Lake Medical Center.

He and his wife, Jennifer Sylvester, who is a nurse, are expecting their first child in August.
"Both my wife and I are from small towns. We just like the quiet and being part of everything," said Cook. He said he and his wife look forward to enjoying outdoors activities in Estherville and the Lakes area.
