If you ever go to a Black Knights Car Club meeting at the Estherville VFW, you'll see members approve giving money to a number of worthy causes, such as people with medical hardships or scholarships for students studying in the automotive field.
That's why attending the Black Knights Car Club drags at the Spencer Airport Sunday, Sept. 25 is a great way to support our local community.
Racing goes from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and spectator admission is just $5 - not a lot of money for a full day of entertainment.
You'll see all kinds of antique and classic cars as well as late-model stocks racing side by side. There will be a lot of local racers plus many from throughout the region.
The Black Knights, originally formed in 1955, was resurrected in 2006 by former members and some new ones who saw a lot of support for a local car club. Since then, they've had monthly cruise-ins on Library Square and held a car show every Sweet Corn Days, becoming a big part of that celebration.
The Black Knights have really become an emblem of the Estherville summer community - not to mention the many worthy causes they support.
So come on out to the drags this next Sunday, Sept. 25. Winter isn't that far away, so why not bring the whole family and have a great time.
