RUTHVEN - The Ruthven-Ayrshire/Graettinger-Terril boys basketball team ran into a buzzsaw in an 80-32 loss to defending state champions St. Mary's of Storm Lake on Friday.
"Their press led to the Raiders downfall," said RA/GT coach Randy Hough. "We had way too many turnovers. I think the players were extremely nervous playing the defending state champions."
Dylan Smith and Garrett Parker led the Raiders with six points apiece while Austin Dyer finished with five and Damon Morris had four. Colin Leiting, Carter Williamson and Mitch Girres each had three points. Smith led the rebounding with five boards. Dyer and Parker each had two assists. RA/GT was 12-of-28 from the field and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. RA/GT (1-2) hosts North Sentral Kossuth/Armstrong-Ringsted on Friday.
