Milford man arrested on burglary, drug charges

A Milford man was arrested recently on burglary and drug possession charges following an incident on Thursday, Jan. 26.

The Estherville Police Department reports that officers were called to the Bomgaar's parking lot on Thursday, Jan. 26 concerning a burglary of a motor vehicle. The victim advised that he had parked his work vehicle in the parking lot. He stated that when he came out of the store, a male suspect had a door open on his utility box and had an arm full of his tools. The complainant told officers that he yelled at the suspect and chased him away from his truck. The suspect fled the area.

Police patrol officers and K-9 Max were called to the scene. Max was able to track the suspect to a nearby neighborhood and did locate some stolen tools; however the suspect was not located at that time.

With the assistance of the Milford Police Department, officers conducted further investigation into the suspect and his activities on Thursday. The suspect was identified as John Haisman, 31, of Milford. Haisman came to the Estherville police department and was later placed under arrest for third degree burglary a Class D Felony and possession of drug paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor. Haisman was placed in the Emmet County Jail on the charges. He made an initial appearance in front of a magistrate and was issued a bond of $6,500 cash or surety.

Haisman posted bond and was released on Saturday.

All suspects are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law.

The investigation continues and further charges are pending.
