If you've never been there before, you want to be sure to make the annual Estherville Farm & Home Show this weekend at the Regional Wellness Center at 415 S. 18th St.
This year's show will be held 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
While a lot of other areas of the country are hurting, the strong ag and renewable energy sectors in Iowa and Estherville have kept our economy healthy and vibrant. You see it every day. People are building, remodeling and sprucing up. And you can get some great ideas for your own home at this year's show.
Admission is free, and you'll see all kinds of great exhibits, ranging from home improvement to homebuilders to banks to home decor and accessory vendors.
A special addition this year is the legislative town hall meeting 9 a.m. Saturday in the RWC community room. This is your chance to tell Sen. Jack Kibbie or Rep. John Wittneben your position on issues that impact you every day.
Admission is free and folks of all ages are welcome. Concessions will be available from Godfather's Pizza. The show is sponsored by the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce.
Swinging bridge ceremony Monday
At 6 p.m. Monday, a special event will be held with the lighting ceremony of the swinging bridge in North Riverside Park.
Thanks to Estherville voters who approved the 1-cent sales tax to fund Excel! Estherville, funds are available to renovate the bridge to make it safe and aesthetically pleasing.
It's been a community effort that's going to benefit the community overall. We hope as many community members as possible turn out for this event.
