Estherville Lincoln Central’s Alyssa Johnson (back center) helped the Northwest squad win the Iowa Basketball Coaches’ Association All-Star game last Saturday. While Johnson didn’t take part in the Northwest team’s 86-71 victory over the Southeast team, she had 14 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots in the title game, an 86-84 victory over Northeast. Northwest team members and their point totals in the champions game are (not in picture order) Erica Dreckman (3) – Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn, Whitney Vander Maten (18) – Boyden-Hull, Dana Weerheim (6) – West Sioux, Sarah Mallen (2) – West Hancock, Cassidy Breon (10) – Sargent-Bluff-Luton, Jessie Pauley(14) – OABCIG, Natalie Engle (8) – Sioux City West, Madison Yohe (12) – Sioux City Heelan, Alyssa Johnson?(14) – ELC. Coaches were Dan Kruse and Bruce Eckenrod from Central Lyon. Johnson will compete in the Iowa Girls Coaches Association All-Star Game this weekend in Cedar Rapids as the Class 2A All-Stars take on the Class 1A All-Stars.
