MILFORD - Spirit Lake Park had another outstanding night at the Okoboji Relays in Milford on Monday. The Indians garnered eight first-place finishes and SLP coach Brad Travis said several athletes set personal records.

"Tonight we had outstanding performances from our young men," Travis said. "We saw huge PR's from almost all of our athletes tonight and had quite a few guys break into the all-time lists.

"Just a few of those were: Kevin Martinson finally capturing the 400 hurdle school record; he has been chasing for a year in the making.

"The weather finally cooperated tonight and we were able to run our 4x100. In doing so we are now ranked 6th in 3A and just .48 off the school record. Plus we set three meet records tonight, in the 1600M, 3200M and 4x200."

The 4x100-meter relay team consists of Luke Kabele, Aric Waltz, Bryson McCabe and Kevin Martinson as they won the event in 4.09 seconds.

Keith Byers won the 1600-meter run in 4:27 while Will Norris ran the 3200-meter run in 9:48.47. The 4x200-meter relay team of Kabele, Waltz, McCabe and Austin Folsom won in 3:45.29.

McCabe won both the 100 and 200-meter races in 11.05 seconds and 22.97 seconds, respectively.

Martinson won the 400-meter hurdles in 51.54 seconds.

Also winning was the medley relay team of Folsom, Rodney Phifer, Caleb Jennings and Kayne Feldick in 3:45.29.

Martin's second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles set the SLP school record at 55.06 seconds, but that placed him second on Monday.

Kabele placed second in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 8 1/2 inches. Waltz was second in the 200-meter run in 23.09 seconds.

Norris was second in the 1600 in 4:48.19 while Byers placed second in 10:27.47.

Also second was the 4x400-meter relay team of Jennings, Kabele, Waltz and Martinson, who finished in 3:29.67 and the 4x800-meter team of Paul Woizeschke, Kyle Anderson, Trevor Jensen and Tanner Goetsch which finished in 8:37.22.

Tanner Kroon placed third in the shot put with a throw of 42 feet, 11 1/4 inches and Kaye Feldick placed third in the 400-meter dash in 52.48 seconds.
