Black Knights: a bunch of great people working for a great cause

April 30, 2012
Estherville Daily News

It isn't very often you see a group of people having the time of their life - all while helping others.

A good case in point is the Black Knights Car Club which is holding its May meeting 7 p.m. tonight at the Estherville VFW Trophy Room. The group will discuss plans for the first cruise of the season this Friday as well as events throughout the summer. If you aren't a member of this great group, tonight's your chance to come and see what the Black Knights are all about. You don't have to even own a classic car. All you need is a love of them.

Barb Blaise and Relay for Life Team Hope will be serving supper again this year at the cruise-ins in Library Square, starting with this Friday from 5-7 p.m. The menu this Friday is a hot turkey sandwich, macaroni salad, fresh fruit, bars and drink (soda, water or coffee) for just $5.

The Knights will be displaying their cars and then taking a cruise about 7:15. So come for the supper and stay for the music and popcorn.

The Black Knights have gotten a name for helping out a lot of good causes. At every single meeting, they pitch in and help people who are sick, have lost their homes to fire or who have met with some other misfortune. They also sponsor two scholarships every year for students attending automotive programs.

When you attend Black Knights events - like the annual drags or the cruise-in meals - you're helping support a great cause. Plus you're in for a great time, seeing some great cars with some great music and some great people.

So come on out for a great time - starting 5 p.m. this Friday night.
