Red Cross collects 52 units of blood

May 4, 2012
Estherville Daily News

To the EDN

The American Red Cross would like to thank everyone who came to the Duhigg center on Tuesday, May 1 to donate at the blood drive. We were able to collect 52 units of life saving blood at this drive. That is enough to potentially save 156 lives. Wow! Thank you!

Cat Nicol was awarded her 1 gallon pin, that is eight donations. Marcia Klingbeil acieved six gallons and Jennifer Lesieur achieved seven gallons. Between these three ladies 112 units of life have been donated to the red cross . Enough to impact 336 lives! It takes so little time and causes much good in our world. Thank you!

We also want to thank GKN for so generously sponsoring this blood drive. If not for our sponsors in the community the Red Cross would have to provide drinks and snacks. I am pleased to remind the Red Cross at every drive that Estherville provides refreshments for OUR blood drives!

While we were at the Duhigg Center, we were able to watch the movers begin to move the old convent (Nash Center). They did not get far that day, but have you ever seen a brick building move even a few feet? It was quite an experience and the Red Cross staff were enthralled to be able to watch even a little of it.

The Red Cross will be returning to Estherville on Tuesday, Aug 7, so please mark your calendars and come join us in saving a life or ten!!

Thanks again Estherville.
