ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Charles Beck, 81, of Estherville will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at First Christian Church in Estherville with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legion Post 91 of Estherville.

He died Thursday, May 17, 2012, at his home in Estherville.

Charles Andrew Beck, the son of Bert and Fern (Hutten) Beck, was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Burlington, Wis.

He received his education in the Emmetsburg schools. Charles served in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954.

Charles was employed at John Morrell and Company for 28 years. On Nov. 12, 1976, he was united in marriage to Stella Foster. Charles also worked for Emmet County Conservation for 12 years. He enjoyed bowling, camping, playing cards and gambling.

He was a member of the VFW Post No. 3388 in Estherville.

Left to cherish Charles' memory are his wife, Stella; children, Pamela Whitters (Dr. Michael), Daniel Foster (Libby), Roberta Utley (Dave), Cindy Hannagan (Ed), Tammy Lair (Russel), Charles Beck, Jr. (Nancy), Mollie Sander (Mark), Debra Brodersen (Brian), Melodee Mendez (Tito) and Marge Roskens (Sid) and David Huntress (Michelle); 29 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and brother, Eldon Beck (Kim).
