Retiring Estherville Lincoln Central Elementary Principal Kris Schlievert tells students that she likes Mickey Mouse because he's always smiling and has fun.
The same could be said of Schlievert.
She often has a smile on her face and obviously has enjoyed her time at ELC.
Schlievert is retiring after 15 years with the school district.
In her resignation letter, she said she's most proud of the grants she initiated, facilitated and overseen and she has every reason to be.
Those grants have amounted to over $3.5 million, which include the 21st Century Learning Grant, Evan Start grants, community Foundation grants and the K-3 Innovative At-Risk Grant.
Other accomplishments include the Box Top program, the Parent Action Team, School-wide Title 1, guided reading and looping as well as the addition of a district-wide interpreter translator and early childhood programs.
We thank her for her service and in working with the children of the community for the past 15 years.
We wish her well as she begins the next adventure in her life, whatever that may be.
