ESTHERVILLE?- Funeral services for Kenneth Bishop, 77, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday,?June 14 at Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastor Joel Jorgenson officiating. Military graveside rites by VFW Post 3388 and American Legaion Post 91 of Estherville will be held at Oak Hill Cemeter. He passed away Saturday, June 9 at Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Kenneth O. Bishop, the son of Matthew and Blanche (Farner) Bishop, was born July 9, 1934, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Kenny served in the United States Army. Following his honorable discharge from military service he returned to Carlisle. He was employed at various jobs in Carlisle. A highlight in Kenny's employment was working for the Fire and Rescue Department. In 1983, Kenny moved to Estherville to make his home. On July 7, 1992, he was united in marriage to Dixie Pietrzak in Boiling Springs, Penn. Over the years he drove a semi over the road for Holiday Express Corporation, then went to work for Rohlin Construction in Estherville for a time and later returned to drive for Holiday Express until his retirement in 2007.

He was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville; Fraternal Order of the Eagles; United States Bowling Congress; American Legion, Cumberland Fire Company and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville.

Left to cherish Kenny's memory are his wife, Dixie of Estherville; son, Patrick Bishop and his wife, Lisa of Williamstown, N.J.; step-children, Thomas Hand of Los Angeles, Calif.; William Hand and his wife, Karin of Estherville; Gary Strickland and his wife, Kim; Shirley Strickland; grandchildren, Matthew, Emily and Madison; and two brothers, John "Joe" Bishop and his wife, Rose of Carlisle and Donald Bishop and his wife, Patti of Boiling Springs and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Kenny in death were his parents and son, Matthew Bishop.
