If the Thursday Downtown Market was a success last year, it looks like it will be a resounding success this year.
In fact, it looks as though Nancy Clark, who put an enormous amount of work into the market last year, created something of a monster.
Lexie Hash, who's coordinating the market this summer for the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce, said 21 vendors have committed to the market to date, but there's still plenty of room for more.
Entertainment will be a staple of this season's market. Performers include:
n June 21 - Music with Dee (Dee McDonald).
n July 12 - Tim Norgaard & Company.
n Aug. 23 - Steve Mahin Band.
n Sept. 13 - Estherville Lincoln Central High School band.
Participation in the downtown market is just $20 for the entire summer. It's suggested that vendors bring a table and chairs for attendants and an awning in the event of rain and to keep off that hot summer sun.

Tractor pull Saturday
If you haven't heard yet, the Emmet County Fair Board is sponsoring a tractor pull starting at 5 p.m. today at the fairgrounds. Look for a lot of unique tractors pulling "more than their weight". The Estherville Saddle Club will serve refreshments.
Admission is free but a free-will donation is heartily accepted. Proceeds go toward improvements at the Emmet County Fairgrounds.
