Bosch, Kirchner earn all-district honors

Estherville Lincoln Central senior Kendall Bosch and junior Emily Kirchner have been named to the Class 3A West All-District Softball Team by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.

As reported earlier, coach Megan Anderson also was named the 3A District Coach of the Year.

The Midgets finished the season with a 28-8 record and placed fourth at the Class 3A State Softball Tournament.

Bosch, a senior pitcher and infielder, finished with an earned run average of 0.65, the best in Class 3A. Of 38 runs allowed only 15 were earned. She finished the season with 206 strikeouts, 10 walks and five hit batters. Her record was 19-8.

At the plate, she was also one of the district's top hitters .459 average with 51 hits which included 10 doubles, three triples, a home run and 49 RBIs. She also scored 37 runs.

Kirchner finished as the second-best hitter in Class 3A. She batted .566 with 56 hits including nine doubles, five triples, six home runs and 36 RBIs. She scored 54 runs and drew 19 walks. Her on-base percentage was .639 with a slugging percentage of .939.

Spirit Lake junior shortstop Paige Krause also was named to the 3A West All-District Team.

She finished the season with a 4.25 batting average. She had 51 hits with 12 doubles, four triples, 13 home runs, 61 RBIs and 54 runs.
