MARCUS - While Graettinger-Terril and Ruthven-Ayrshire had the Eight-Man football experience, it wasn't enough against Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn in the Eagles' first game on the smaller gridiron.
MMC took a 35-6 halftime lead on the way to a 48-12 victory over the newly-formed Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Titans on Friday.
The hosts opened up with a 50-yard run with 8:35 in the first quarter and added a 2-point conversion. About 5 minutes later, they added a 5-yard pass and led 14-0 after one quarter of play.
Early in the second quarter, the Titans responded with their first score, a two-yard run by Carter Williamson, the two-point conversion failed
The Eagles responded with a 70-yard return on the ensuing kickoff.
Later in the half, they added a 20-yard run and then a 26-yard pass with 13 seconds left in the second quarter.
MMC scored the only touchdown in the third quarter on a 2-yard run at the 4:40 mark.
They added a 24-yard pass with 9:34 in the fourth quarter.
The Titans scored their final points on a 1-yard run by Kyle Dalen with 2:54 left in the game.
Williamson had 62 yards on 11 carries. Dalen had 35 yards on 14 carries. Blaze Alesch had 20 yards on 15 carries. Ryan Jacks had 25 yards on four carries.
Alesch was 3-of-7 passing for 32 yards with one interception.
Williamson caught two passes for 18 yards and Dalen caught one for 14 yards. The Titans also had one fumble.
Defensively, Dalen had eight tackles, McGrauth had six, Williamson had five and Alesch had four.
