ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for George Guge, 91, of Estherville will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at Calvary Gospel Assembly in Estherville with Pastor Travis Rosinger officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Union State Line Cemetery in rural Petersburg, Minn.
He died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.
George E. Guge, the son of William and Florence (Wheatley) Guge, was born April 2, 1921, at the family's farm home in rural Dickinson County.
He received his education in the North Superior rural school.
On Feb. 18, 1944, George was united in marriage to Ardis Larsen. The couple began raising their family in rural Superior where they farmed their entire married life. George retired from farming in 1986 and the couple remained in the farm until a couple of years ago due to declining health. The couple enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. In his leisure time George loved playing horseshoes.
He was a member of Calvary Gospel Assembly in Estherville.
Left to cherish George's memory are his wife of 68 years, Ardis, of Estherville; his children, Roger Guge and his wife, Sue, of Estherville, Gordon Guge and his wife, Cathy, of Phoenix and Brian Guge and his wife, Lori, of Hiawatha; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding George in death were his parents and one brother, Myron.
