SPENCER - Iowa Lakes Community College women's soccer team had a successful opener against Dakota County Saturday as they walked away with a 7-0 victory.
"We played well considering it's early on and a lot of little things need to be figured out but all-in-all a strong showing by our team," said Ammon Bennett.
The Lakers controlled the game and outshot Dakota County 25-5.
"We missed some really good opportunities on set pieces and hopefully this will come together better for us in the next few games," said Bennett. "It's these types of things that always seem to come along slower but we have the talent to get it done."
Natasha Lichfield and Kelsey Johnson share in the shutout victory, while Cortnee Sanchez had two goals, Danielle Bills, Lizzy Rasmussen, Brooke Saxton, Salena Ramos and Makayla Morris rounded out the scoring.

Dakota County edges Iowa Lakes
The Iowa Lakes Community College men's soccer team had a rough start to its season falling to Dakota County Community College 4-3 in double overtime.
"It was not a pretty game by both teams and we certainly had to battle for everything, the effort was present but not the judgment and team play," said coach Bennett. "I was impressed by the fact that we didn't quit even when we were down 3-1 and even had a chance with seconds on the clock to win the game in regulation, but it wasn't to be. In the end we just made too many mistakes."
Milo Bruce-Burgess had two goals for the Lakers and Erick Guzman had the third. Richard Nolasco was in goal for the Lakers.
