ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Jenny Christensen, 89, of Graettinger will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger with Pastor Christine Lange officiating. Interment will be at Valley Vue Cemetery, Graettinger. She died Saturday, Sept. 1 at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville.

Genevieve Ione (Anderson) Christensen, the daughter of Bert and Carrie (Hanson) Anderson, was born November 22, 1922, in Graettinger, Iowa. She passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Avera Holy Family Health in Estherville, Iowa, at the age of 89.

She received her education in the Graettinger schools.

On July 4, 1939, Jenny was united in marriage to Warren Christensen in Graettinger. The couple began raising their family and the couple farmed in the Graettinger area. Jenny was a homemaker and Warren was employed at Golden Sun Feeds in Estherville. In 1965, Warren transferred and they moved to Sioux Falls, S. D. Jenny continued being a homemaker. Later they moved to Larchwood. Following Warren's retirement in 1984, the couple returned back to Graettinger to make their home. Warren died Jan. 2, 2008. The past 7 years Jenny has made her home at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville due to declining health. In her leisure time Jenny enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, watching movies and playing bingo. Jenny was a huge Elvis Presley fan, collecting records, tapes and cd's of his music. Most important to Jenny was spending time with her beloved family.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Graettinger.

Left to cherish Jenny's memory are her children, Jimmy Christensen of Graettinger; Janice Reiter and her husband, Jim of Estherville; Judy Ripperda and her husband, John of LeMars; Jack Christensen and his wife, Joyce of Elgin, Minn.; Jill Fisher and her husband, Larry of Fort Worth, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Don Anderson special friends, Lori Rentschler of Hills, Minn., and Don and Susie Mahan of Graettinger and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jenny in death were her husband; parents; sisters, Arlene Truchey; Ruth Robinson; Verna Hanna; Lois Atkinson; Alice Brandt and special niece, Delores Gregerson.
