FOREST?CITY - The Iowa Lakes Community College women's soccer team defeated Waldorf College, 3-1, but the performance wasn't what the coaches were hoping for.
"We really came out flat and slow and less than two minutes into the game gave up a soft goal," said Iowa Lakes coach Ammon Bennett. "It seemed to fire us up a bit and the rest of the game was dominated by us as we outshot them 25-1 the rest of the way out. Even though we controlled the game it wasn't the right way. We still make far too many poor decisions in the attacking third of the field.
"We keep stressing to the team to make one more pass, to be just a bit more patient and to continue to use teammates rather than selfish play. In the end we are pleased with the win but our effort will have to be monumental this weekend as we face Iowa Western (ranked 4th) and Laramie County Community College (ranked 18th) by the NJCAA polls."
Kelsey Johnson recorded her first collegiate win in goal for the Lakers while Lizzy Rasmussen had a pair of goals and Brittney Hanson added the third.
