Respite Angels, an Estherville-based organization that provides temporary volunteer caregivers for families persons with Alzheimer's and dementia disorders, will hold its second annual Angel Day 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Masonic Temple at 2003 Central Ave. in Estherville.
Scalloped potatoes and ham or chicken noodle casserole, salads, bars and drink will be available for $7. There will also be a bake sale with all proceeds going to support respite care.
Respite Angels will also offer Caregiver 101, a series of free classes for families of caregivers at the Estherville Public Library Community Room. The classes are made possible through the grant from the Emmet County Community Foundation. All classes will be held from 1-2 p.m.
The classes include:
n Thursday, Sept. 27 - What is respite care.
n Thursday, Oct. 4 - Dealing with difficult people.
n Thursday, Oct. 11 - Building a support network.
n Thursday, Oct. 18 - Taking care of you.
The classes are great for family caregivers or people that want to get involved with Respite Angels. All are welcome to attend any of these classes.
Also on Tuesday, Sept. 18, Rosewood Manor will host a taco in the bag fundraiser from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the three-season porch.
