The Estherville Lincoln Central seventh-grade football team played Spirit Lake on Tuesday and lost 14-0 to the Indians. Spirit Lake scored its first touchdown in the second quarter and ELC's defense held them on the two-point conversion. ELC drove the football near the end zone at the end of first half with a pass from Trey Jacobson to Trevor Friesner, but the clock ran out and the Midgets had a kick-return called back because of a penalty.
A defensive highlight in game one was Seth Loock's interception. Trevor Friesner, Anthony Alvarez, Jacob Heinrichs, Colin Tibbets, Evan Olesen and Rodrigo Alvarado and Zach Montandon each had a sack.
ELC lost the second game 14-8.
ELC's lone touchdown was scored by Franscisco Saavedra on a pass from Evan Olesen and the two-point conversion was scored by Anthony Alvarez. Defensively, Ryan McMurtry, Noah Helmers and Carter Briggs had a strong game.
ELC will host Okoboji at 4:15 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2.
