Seventh-grade football

The Estherville Lincoln Central seventh-grade football team defeated Okoboji 48-26 on Tuesday.

ELC jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter.

Jacob Heinrichs and Seth Loocke both scored on runs of 35 yards. Heinrichs converted a two-point conversion. The score at half-time was 30-6 with Evan Olesen scoring on a second-quarter,15-yard sweep and Heinrichs scored the two-point conversion. Heinrichs scored again before half-time with a 35-yard sweep and Trey Jacobsen completed a pass to Trevor Friesner for the two-point conversion. In the second half, Anthony Alvarez powered his way into the end zone with a 60-yard run. The final two touchdowns were by Heinrichs again. One was a 30-yard sprint and the other was on a 60 yard kick-return.

Defensively, the Midgets were lead by Trevor Friesner, Anthony Alvarez, Jacob Bosch, Brandon McMurtry and Colin Tibbetts.

ELC travels to Emmetsburg on Thursday.

Eighth-grade football

The Estherville Lincoln Central Eighth-grade Football Team lost 18-6 to Spencer on Tuesday.

Myles McDonald rushed for 80 yards in the game and scored ELC's lone touchdown. Jason Halsrud ran for 40 yards while Trevor Shyrock had 52 yards in receptions.

Defensively, Shyrock and McDonald each had five tackles. Shryock also recorded a sack. Robert Sheridan and Isaac Jorgenson each had four tackles. Clay Budach had fumble recovery.

ELC's next game is Oct. 11 at home versus North Union at 6 p.m.

Seventh-grade volleyball

The Estherville Lincoln Central seventh-grade volleyball team played Okoboji on Monday.

In the A game ELC lost 21-15, 20-22, 21-13.

The ELC B Team lost 21-15, 21-7, 12-21

The ELC C Team lost 21-18, 21-9, 21-17.

ELC is at home versus Spencer next.
