ARMSTRONG - After coming so close to a victory last week against Pocahontas Area, North Union has something to build on as they go on the road against South O'Brien tonight.
"We came out of the game pleased with our success," said North Union co-coach Tom Elliott. "We moved the ball the way we think that we could.
"We were a little bigger and our size advantage helped in the front line," said Elliott. "The kids are also grasping at what we're trying to get at and the detail is starting to come around."
The problem came in spotting Pocahontas Area 14 points before North Union got on the board.
"If we can stop doing that, we might be able to come out with a win," Elliott said.
The North Union coach compared South O'Brien with Pocahontas Area.
"They're not overly big, but the line up and just run right at you," said Elliott.
The Wolverines are tied with district leaders Emmetsburg with a 5-1 mark overall and 3-0 in district play.
South O'Brien relies on its running game and are led by Zach Niekman who has650 yards and seven touchdowns on 90 carries.
