SPIRIT LAKE Class 2A No. 5 Spirit Lake readies for its next challenge as Clarion-Goldfield comes to town tonight.
The Cowboys started the season 4-0 with wins over Humboldt (17-4), Eagle Grove (62-39), South Central Calhoun (17-14) and Estherville Lincoln Central (40-26). But Clarion-Goldfield dropped its last two games to Forest City (21-0) and Garner-Hayfield/Ventura (31-7).
Spirit Lake coach Josh Bolluyt said his team is just happy to be home after two weeks on the road.
"They're definitely a power football team," said Bolluyt of the Cowboys. "They're a different team in what we've seen in that they want to establish the run.
"For our offense, they'll give us multiple fronts with their defense."
Spirit Lake is coming off a 54-14 win over East Sac County (0-6) in which the Indians scored all their points in the first half.
