The Estherville Lincoln Central seventh-grade football team defeated Emmetsburg 30-8 on Thursday.
ELC held Emmetsburg on both of their series and ELC turned-over the football twice. The second quarter was all ELC. Jacob Heinrichs scored two touchdowns that were both 35-yard runs. The first two-point conversion was on a pass from Trey Jacobsen to Trevor Friesner and the second was on a run by Seth Loocke. Right before half, Trey Jacobsen connected with Trevor Friesner on a 25-yard pass in the end zone with the two-point conversion run by Seth Loocke. The score was 24-0 at half-time.
In the third quarter, ELC scored again with Heinrichs on a 45-yard sprint. The two-point conversion failed. Emmetburg scored its lone touchdown in the fourth quarter. The two-point conversion failed.
ELC tackle leaders were Trey Jacobson, Jacob Bosch, Brandon McMurtry, Trevor Friesner and Anthony Alvarez. Jacobson, Bosch, and Evan Olesen each had one interception on the evening.
The second game between ELC and Emmetsburg ended in a 6-6 tie. Jacob Bosch connected on a pass with Evan Olesen that went for 60 yards. Brandon Mix, Dakotah Fisher. Joe Hecht, Noah Heifner had strong defensive performances.
ELC is at Spencer at 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 9.
