Martha "Marty" Hall

ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Martha "Marty" Hall, 84, of Estherville will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Estherville Lutheran Church with Pastor Doug Burton officiating. Visitation will be 4:30 until 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.

She died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Martha "Marty" Jane (DeVore) Hall, the daughter of Albert and Edith (Runyan) DeVore, was born Sept. 16, 1928, in Lincoln, Neb.

She received her education in the Grand Island, Neb. schools. Marty also attended college in Nebraska.

On Jan. 2, 1947, Marty was united in marriage to Donald Hall in Kansas. The couple made their home in Grand Island. In 1951 when Don retired from professional baseball, the couple moved to Estherville when Don was recruited by the Iowa State League for the team in Estherville. Marty worked for Clair Clark Reality for many years. After 40 years in the real estate business she retired in 2008. Marty was very active in the Estherville community. She was active in planning and attending community events. She was a member of the Avera Holy Family Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary. Marty loved to dance and if there was a dance in the area she would attend.

For the past seven years, Marty wintered in Surprise, Ariz. While in Arizona she was a member of the Lions Club and was active in many community events.

Left to cherish Marty's memory are her children, Judy McKee and her husband, Charles, of Prescott, Ariz., Michael Hall and his wife, Robbie, and Patrick Hall and his wife, Becki, all of Estherville; seven grandchildren, Liza, Daniel, Chrisanne, Abby, Johnathan, Megan and Amanda and sister-in-law, Diane DeVore, of Sun Village, Ariz. Marty was also known by many in Estherville as "Grandma Marty".

She has been preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; one brother, LeRoy DeVore, and one sister, June Barnes.
