BETTENDORF - Iowa Lakes Community College women's soccer team defeated Scott Community College 8-0 on Saturday to improve to 13-5 on the season.
"We played well at times and were able to play our entire team and even rest a few banged up bodies in preparation for our home playoff game this Tuesday against Indian Hills in Spencer," said Iowa Lakes coach Ammon Bennett. "Brooke Saxton had a huge day for us scoring 5 goals and having 1 assist."
The effort gives her first place in the record books for goals in a game eclipsing several players who have scored three in a game.
Iowa Lakes earned a first round home playoff game against Indian Hills held Tuesday with the winner advancing to the region semifinal game at the James Cownie Soccer Complex in Des Moines this upcoming Saturday.
"We think we have a really good chance of advancing to the championship. Our goal all year has been to reach that game and win it," said Bennett.
