SPENCER - Iowa Lakes Community College won its first round playoff game in big fashion yesterday at the Lake House ending Indian Hills season in 12-0 fashion.
"The game started a bit slow as Indian Hills tried to keep numbers back and bunker in on us," said Iowa Lakes coach Ammon Bennett. "It took us time to break it down but once we did the floodgates opened and we cruised to a nice victory."
Brooke Saxton once again paced Iowa Lakes with three goals and an assist while Lizzy Rasmussen had three assists and one goal.
The scoring was balanced as 10 Lakers were involved in the scoring side of the game. Danielle Bills, Dani Huston, Selena Ramos, Cortnee Sanchez, Brittney Valentine, Megan Hirabayashi, Brittney Hanson, and Amanda Burkley each had a goal apiece.
"The best thing about the scoring was that multiple people were involved in the attack and almost every goal had an assist," said Bennett. "Having a balanced attack and finding people in the final third has been something we have been working on all year."
Iowa Lakes (15-5) next plays in the region semi-final in Des Moines against Iowa Central this Saturday at the James Cownie Soccer Complex with the winner advancing to the championship game on Sunday.
