Emmetsburg police investigating three burglaries

EMMETSBURG - The Emmetsburg Police Department investigated three burglary attempts on Wednesday to three local restaurants.

According to the police report, the Emmetsburg were first called to Dairy Queen at 6:19 a.m. Wednesday. The management staff discovered that an entry door had been forced open. Entry was made into the office area and a safe was broken into. The amount of money taken has yet to be determined. Damage to the entry door is estimated at 1,500. The burglary is believed to have occurred some time after 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

While investigating the Dairy Queen burglary, the Emmetsburg police were summoned to the A&W Restaurant for a report of an attempted break-in. During the early morning hours Wednesdayy, an entry door was damaged as a result of someone trying to pry it open. The attempt was unsuccessful to gain entry into the building. Damage to the entry door and frame are estimated at $100.

The Emmetsburg Police were next summoned to Pizza Hut for a report of a burglary.

Also during the early morning hours on Wednesday, a door to the restaurant was forced open and entry was gained into the building. A cash drawer was forced open and an office safe was broken into. As reported by management staff, no money was taken from the cash drawer or safe.

Damage to the cash drawer is estimated at $250. Damage to the safe is estimated and damaged to the door is estimated at $1,000.

The Emmetsburg Police Department is continuing its investigation into these burglaries.
