To the EDN:
Living in Estherville as small as we are, I still know very few people. People send letters to the editor all the time and I have never met them. Carolyn Moe sent a letter bashing Billy Graham recently.
For the EDN readers, Ms. Moe was most likely responding to this statement most recently published by the 94 year old Evangelist Billy Graham.
"On November 6, the day before my 94th birthday, our nation will hold one of the most critical elections in my lifetime. We are at a crossroads and there are profound moral issues at stake. I strongly urge you to vote for candidates who support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and woman, protect the sanctity of life, and defend our religious freedoms. The Bible speaks clearly on these crucial issues. Please join me in praying for America, that we will turn our hearts back toward God."
This is what she and her fellow Democrats are all lathered up about. Billy was saying because of the extreme immoral planks in the Democrat Party platform and the present occupant of the White House, vote for biblical values on Nov. 6. Mr Graham was saying what every pastor in Estherville and across the land should be saying from the pulpit. However, most pastors are reluctant to say anything about same sex marriage or abortion from the pulpit for a variety of reasons. Billy at 94 years is still hard at work urging the nation to turn their hearts back toward God. That is his sin?
Something for all of us to think about when we go to the polls on November 6. Do I take my moral beliefs into the voting booth with me or do I park them outside the booth before I go in and vote? I will grant you that some of us don't have any morals to park and thus will vote accordingly.
