"When's the Riverview Bridge going to be done?" is the question Emmet County engineer Roger Patocka hears a few times a week.

"Hopefully by the end of this month" is his response, depending on weather and temperatures.

This past week the crews from Graves Construction of Spencer poured the deck of the bridge-585 cubic yards of concrete, according to Patocka.

Next on the list is pouring the rails and working on the abutments.

"They've been moving more quickly," Patocka said. "They also still have the approaches to pave."

Emmet County has disbursed about 88 percent of the approximately $890,000 appropriated for the project.

Patocka said local traffic during the fall had to make plans to get around the area.

"Fortunately the weather cooperated and it wasn't a huge impediment."
