While the Class 3A No. 3 Midgets expect to shoot well, they came out on fire against the E'Hawks jumping out to a 19-0 lead and cruising to a 55-23 victory on Tuesday.

The E'Hawks, coached by former ELC assistant coach Anne Fiene, responded well in the second quarter while beginning to make shots, but the Midgets answered everyone.
When Ashton Connelly hit a 3-pinter to get within 18 at 30-12, ELC's Macy Dahl responded with her second 3-pointer of the night and ELC led 34-13 at the break.
The Midget defense came out in the second half and stifled the E'Hawks with a 14-0 run.
Sara Heywood started the run with a 3-pointer and a layup off a steal. She had two more layups in the period as she scored nine of her game-high 17 points in the third period.
The Midgets led 48-13 to start the final frame.
ELC scored the first five points of the fourth quarter before Emmetsburg hit some shots late in the game.
Casey Sievert finished with 13 points while Dahl, Emily Kirchner and Allie Sievert each had six. McCauley had three while Megan Jensen and Rachel Bates each chipped in two points.
ELC (4-1 overall, 1-0 in the Lakes Conference) hosts Spencer on Friday. The Tigers were 2-1 entering their Tuesday matchup with Cherokee. Spencer lost to Newell-Fonda 48-35 in the season opener and defeated Sioux Central 47-35 and Unity Christian 40-37.
