BANCROFT?- Donald Weber, age 88, of Bancroft, died on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012 at the Algona Good Samaritan Care Center. Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Friday at the Burt Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Glenn Wilson officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. The Lentz Funeral Home in Burt is serving the family.
Donald Eugene Weber, the son of David and Leta (Edleman) Weber, was born on April 27, 1924 in Plankington, S.D. He graduated from Burt High School in 1942. On Sept. 22, 1948 Donald was united in marriage with Mary Agnes Wolf at St. John's Catholic Church in Bancroft. They were married for 35 years when Mary died in 1983. He later married Pearl (Nissen) Frick on Feb. 5, 1994 in Estherville. Don farmed all of his life, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Burt Presbyterian Church where he had served as a deacon an usher and recently became a deacon emeritus. He was also a member of the Burt Lions Club and had been a trustee for Portland Township. Don loved his farm, he enjoyed square dancing, wood carving, feeding and watching birds and squirrels.
Left to cherish Don's memory is his wife of 18 years, Pearl; four daughters, Cinda Weber and her friend Joe McDonough of St. Paul, MN, Karen Ernst of Algona, Karla Beenken and her husband (Donovan) of Titonka and Lynn Mulso and her husband Dave of Alden, MN; three grandchildren, Brian (Jenny) Ernst, Megan (Chris) Rasmussen and Trevor Beenken; one great granddaughter, Peyton Ernst; a sister, Lois Riedler and her husband (Don) of Des Moines; and two brothers, David Weber and his wife Sue of Wenatchee, WA and Robert Weber and his wife Joanita of Burt. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Mary in 1983; and a son-in-law Jim Ernst.
