CRESTON - The Iowa Lakes women won their fifth game of the season with a 60-55 victory over Southwestern Community College on Tuesday.
Iowa Lakes led 31-23 after 20 minutes of play and held on for the win in the second half against the winless Spartans (0-12).
The Lakers' edge came at the free throw line where they were 12-for-16 while Southwestern was 7-for-12.
Carla Barrera led Iowa Lakes with 13 points while Ashleigh Dykes finished with 12, Shabreka Edwards had 11, Sunday Duop had eight and Leah Courtney had six. Also Noelle Kindred and Myangel Johnson each had three points and Allyah Easter and Alyssia Winston each had two.
Courtney pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with three assists. Daria Jones and Kindred also had three assists each.
Iowa Lakes (5-10 overall, 1-1 in the region) is on the road against Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids on Saturday.
