Spirit Lake upends H-LP in overtime

LAKE PARK - The Spirit Lake Park boys handed Class 1A No. 3 Harris-Lake Park its first regular season loss in two years with a 46-45 overtime victory on Monday.

The Indians jumped out to a 13-6 lead in the first quarter with the Wolves storming back to take an 18-17 lead at halftime. H-LP led 30-27 after three quarters with the score tied at 37-37 at the end of regulation.

Alec Henrickson scored 27 points to lead the Indians, including 4-for-10 from 3-point range and 7-for-11 from the free throw line.

Paul Brown chipped in seven points, three assists and two blocked shots. Alex Pringnitz had six points, Thate Cole had four and Zach Arneson had two. Arneson had a team-high five rebounds.

The Wolves went undefeated in 2011-12 until losing in the substate game and fall to 7-1 on the season.

Spirit Lake (5-3) returns to Lakes Conference play Friday at Estherville Lincoln Central.
