ALGONA - Estherville Lincoln Central wrestlers faced some familiar wrestlers in a non-conference double dual with Algona and Okoboji on Tuesday.
The Midgets had seen Okoboji in action this past weekend at the Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire Tournament.
ELC wrestled well against the Pioneers, but didn't quite have enough to overcome the open weights in a 40-24 loss.

Algona was too much for the Midgets also as the Bulldogs won 62-16 in the nightcap.
Three ELC wrestlers posted 2-0 records in the double dual.
At 132 pounds, Oscar Ramirez pinned both his opponents, defeating Okoboji's Nathan Bouse in 3:01 and Algona's Josh Strohman in 1:59.
At 120 pounds, Cole Budach avenged a weekend loss to Okoboji's Ryan Bolster with a 7-6 victory. Budach received a forfeit from Algona.
At 145 pounds, Blake Gjerde defeated Okoboji's Taylor Cody 5-2. Gjerde edged Taylor 1-0 this past weekend in Graettinger.
Gjerde went on to a 20-6 major decision over Algona's Austin Long.
ELC's other wins against Okoboji included a heavyweight victory by Chase Bonner, who pinned Brandon Marzano in 42 seconds. Also Joel McCoy received a forfeit at 113 pounds.
In other matches against the Pioneers, Jacob Bortvit (170) lost a 14-1 major decision to Justin Richardson.
Also, Easton Gifford (106) lost by fall in 1:44 to Brady Jones; Thomas Bortvit (138) lost by fall in 1:56 to Jon Mitchell and Lee Christensen lost by fall to Jordan Hanna in 1:43.
ELC forfeited at 160, 190 and 126.
In other Algona matches, Jacob Bortvit (170) lost by fall to Class 3A No. 10 Joe Teague in 1:19; Chase Bonner (220) lost a 3-2 overtime decision to Michael Mather; Gifford (106) lost by fall to Tyler Decker in 3:39; McCoy lost by fall to Matt Hutchinson in 1:12; Thomas Bortvit (138) lost by technical fall to Korey Kuecker; and Christensen (152) lost by fall to Weston Shaw in 1:14.
ELC forfeited at 182, 195, 285, 126 and 160.
ELC hosts its dual tournament on Saturday and welcomes Linn-Mar, Forest City, Spirit Lake Park, Bishop Heelan and Blue Earth, Minn., to Estherville.

EMMETSBURG - Estherville Lincoln Central Junior Varsity wrestlers competed at Emmetsburg on Monday.
Kelly Clabaugh went 3-0 with two points and an overtime 9-7 decision at 145 pounds. Lee Christensen posted a 2-1 record at 152 pounds with a pin and a major decision in his victories. Joel McCoy went 2-2 wining a pair of decisions at 105 pounds.
Austin Egeland and Luis Lopez both posted 1-1 record at 138 pounds. Alex Molacek was 0-3 at 126 pounds.
