Coming off a big win over a ranked Des Moines Area Community College squad on Saturday, the Iowa Lakes women didn't fare as well against Ellsworth on Wednesday.
While the Lakers again hung around for most of the game, they couldn't come up with the defensive stops and the baskets to pull out the win. The Panthers left town with a 57-48 victory.
Iowa Lakes trailed 29-22 at halftime and only had three players in the scoring column led by Myangel Johnson's 10 points.

Meanwhile, the Panthers had their scoring spread out among five players.
Iowa Lakes kept the deficit to single digits the whole half, but could never quite get the key stop or basket.
Trailing 48-39, the Lakers put together a six-point run with two baskets from Leah Courtney and one from Johnson to get within 48-45 with 2:58 left in the game.
After the Panthers scored four straight points to push the lead back to seven, Carla Barrera converted a 3-point play with 1:27 to keep within four, 52-48.
But the Lakers couldn't get another basket as Ellsworth made five free throws to seal the victory.
Johnson led the Lakers with 16 points and 16 rebounds while Shabreka Edwards finished with 12 points and seven rebounds. Barrera added 11 points while Courtney finished with six and Sunday Duop had three.
Britteny Steffeny led the visitors with 13 points.
Iowa Lakes (6-12 overall, 2-3 in the conference) travels to Mason City to face North Iowa Area Community College on Saturday.
