WALL LAKE - The Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire wrestling team split a pair of dual meets in Wall Lake on Thursday.
The Titans defeated East Sac County 39-9 and lost 42-33 to Alta-Aurelia.
"The wrestlers came out and were ready to wrestle as they knew they would have to be at their absolute best to compete," said GTRA coach Mike Jensen. "Everyone wrestled 100 percent their entire match. All of the wrestlers fought hard and for the ones that came up short in there match, we know what we need to work on to make us better and to how to correct the little mistakes."
The dual with East Sac County featured six contested matches with GTRA winning four of them.
GTRA came out on top in three one-point decisions.
At 14t pounds, Justin Rodriguez won 6-5 over Andrew Murley; at 160, Hunter Brown won 3-2 over Quentin Ackerman and at 138 pounds, Tyler Hoffman won 5-4 over Colin Haberl.
Matt McGrauth (152) had the only pin for the Titans as he won in 4:23 over Caleb Heun at 152 pounds.
In other contested matches, Kodi Ferguson (170) lost by fall in 3:39 to Chris Vilhauer. Sam George (126) lost 6-0 to Matt Marshall.
Kyle Long (195), Cody Thompson (285), Alex Hoffman (120) and Austin Thompson (132) each received forfeits.
The Titans won four of the eight contested matches against Alta-Aurelia, which included three pins.
McGrauth (152) won in 3:05 over Dylan Ohlson; Long (195) won in Joe Rodriguez in 3:10 and Cody Thompson (285) won in 44 seconds over Neal Felton.
Also Rodriguez won a 10-6 decision over Ben Stange at 145 pounds.
In other contested matches, Brown (160) lost by fall in 43 seconds to Jeremiah Ruby; Ferguson (170) lost by fall in 3:12 to Manuel Murillo; George 9120) lost by fall in 41 seconds to Jorge McDonald and Hoffman (138) lost by fall in 1l55 to Cody Cameron.
Alex Hoffman (126) and Austin Thompson (132) both received forfeits.
GTRA forfeited at 182, 220 and 106.
The Titans travel to the conference wrestling meet today in Laurens.
