The Estherville Fire Department responded to a call to the Estherville McDonald's restaurant early Saturday morning.
According to fire chief Dick Beaver, smoke was coming out of the heat vents when they arrived.
A quick investigation of the roof top furnaces resulted in finding a motor burning in one of the units.
The fire department was on scene approximately 45 minutes.
The Estherville Police Department and Ambulance assisted.
