Spirit Lake girls edge past LeMars in Lakes

LEMARS - After falling by one point in each of the past two games, the Spirit Lake girls were on the positive side of 38-37 victory over LeMars on Tuesday.

Both teams got off to a slow start with the Indians leading 6-2 after one quarter and 14-7 at halftime. LeMars cut the deficit to 22-18 to start the final frame.

Alissa Christoffer led the Indians with 15 of her 19 points in the second half, eight of them from the free throw line. Bailey Loveall finished with five points and 11 rebounds. Abbey Horsman had five steals. The Indians were 15-of-27 from the free throw line.

Carolyn Ahlers led LeMars with 11 points. The Bulldogs were 6-of-19 from the free throw line.

Spirit Lake (8-5 overall) hosts Storm Lake on Friday.
