LeMars surges past Spirit Lake

LEMARS - Spirit Lake couldn't quite hold on to a nine-point halftime lead against LeMars as the Bulldogs surged past the Indians in the third quarter and pulled away in the fourth for a 65-52 win.

The two teams were tied at 15-15 after one quarter of play with Spirit Lake taking a 34-25 lead into the break. But LeMars outscored spirit Lake 24-11 in the third quarter to lead 49-45.

Alec Henrickson led Spirit Lake with 15 points while Trevor Smith had 12 points. Tyler Alger chipped in seven points while Alex Pringnitz had six, Paul Brown and Cole Thate each had five points and Zach Arneson had two. Pringnitz had a team-high eight rebounds and Brown had six assists.

Jake Irwin led the Bulldogs with 17 points including 5-of-10 from 3-point range and Tyler Borchers had 13 points.

Spirit Lake (9-5 overall, 3-5 in the Lakes Conference) hosts Storm Lake on Friday.
