ESTHERVILLE - Memorial services for John A. Myers, 87, of Estherville will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church in Estherville with Rev. Chad Ensz and Rev. Kennen Barber-Ensz officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Henry-Olson Funeral Home in Estherville.
He died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at the Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville.
John Arnold Myers, the son of Wesley John and Ellamae (Lundgren) Myers, was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Estherville.
He received his education in Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School. John served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1943-1946.
On May 2, 1948, he was united in marriage to Norma Neppl. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville and John was employed with the Rock Island Railroad. He also worked for the First Presbyterian Church, Emmet County Conservation and the Bank of America.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the VFW in Estherville.
Left to cherish John's memory are his wife, Norma, of Estherville; children, Marcia Davis and her husband, Bob, of Dubuque, Margaret White and her husband, Craig, of Estherville and John Myers and his wife, Carrie, of Nowata, Okla.; Dave Myers of Estherville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and siblings, Richard Myers, Marianne Peterson and Barbara Maine.
He has been preceded in death by his parents and brother, DeWain Myers.
