HUMBOLDT - The North Union girls lost a nail-biter to Humboldt, 51-46 on Monday.

The Warriors led 9-7 after one quarter, trailed 20-18 at halftime and led 30-29 after three quarters.

North Union coach Merle Tigges said the difference came at the free throw line.

"They shot 24-of-32 from the line and they usually shoot around 50 percent," Tigges said of the Wildcats. "But we also missed some easy shots that could have given us the win."

Aurora Oliver led North Union with 14 points and seven rebounds. Cheyanne Boland had nine points and four steals.

Sara Rolling, Madison Bollig and Dena Looft each scored six points and Jasmine Clausen had five. Looft also had nine rebounds.

North Union (13-7 overall) ends the regular season at home in Armstrong tonight against Lake Mills.

The Warriors begin Class 2A postseason play at home next Tuesday, Feb. 12, against the winner of Saturday's game between Emmetsburg and Pocahontas.
