MANSON - Three Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire wrestlers will continue their season following Class 1A Sectional action in Manson this past Saturday.

Alex Hoffman (113) and Cody Thompson (285) both placed first while Austin Thompson (126) placed second to earn the right to advance to this Saturday's district meet in Milford.

"I felt all of the wrestlers went out and gave it everything they had and left nothing on the mat," said GTRA coach Mike Jensen. "We had three kids qualify for districts and Austin Thompson also received his 100th win. The three wrestlers that are wrestling at districts are ready to put in the work this next week to try and achieve their goals."

Cody Thompson pinned Emmetsburg's Tanner Dahm in 55 seconds, then won 3-2 over Kuemper Catholic's Alex Bruch before winning a 13-2 major decision over Ridge View's Nathan Myrice.

Austin Thompson started his day with a 7-0 decision over Emmetsburg's Nicholas Merwald in the semifinal, but then lost by fall to Kuemper Catholic's Jared Eischeid by fall in 3:06. In the wrestleback, Thompson shut out Manson's Jordan Rozenboom with a 10-0 major decision.

At 152 pounds, Matt McGrauth placed third. He opened the day with a 3-1 decision over Kuemper Catholic's Adam Scharfenkamp, but then lost by fall in 1:19 to Pocahontas' Tyler Hubrich. McGrauth won a 13-4 major decision in the third-place match over Alta-Aurelia's Dylan Ohlson. But since Hubrich lost in the final, McGrauth didn't get a wrestleback.

Tyler Hoffman (145), Kodi Fergeson (160) and Kyle Long (195) all placed sixth.
