There's still time to get tickets for the Emmet County Cattlemen's annual banquet that starts 5 p.m. Saturday at the Estherville Elks Lodge.
Dinner is served from 5-7 p.m. followed by a raffle from 7-8 with a dance from 8 to midnight. Tickets are available from Emmet County Cattlemen members.
John Pluth of the Emmet County Cattlemen told Estherville Rotarians Thursday about the banquet and activities with which cattle producers are involved at the state and national level.
Three $500 raffle prizes will be available and 40 $50 gift cards will be given away, Pluth said. A Brown-and-Serve will also be given away.
Pluth said the Emmet County Cattlemen, a volunteer organization, includes about 100 cattle producers and another 100 associate members. The organization's main goal is to promote beef, and toward that end, over the past year the Cattlemen grilled 10,000 ribeyes at various events.
At the state level, the Iowa Cattlemen's Association lobbies on environmental issues.
