MILFORD - Cody Thompson will be Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire's lone representative at the 2013 Iowa State Wrestling Tournament this week after winning a district title at heavyweight on Saturday.
Wrestling at Okoboji High School in Milford, Thompson started the day by pinning Central Lyon/George-Little Rock's Nolan Geerdes in 1:10.
Thompson needed overtime to defeat Kuemper Catholic's Alex Bruch, 5-1.
The Class 1A first round and first-round consolation matches are scheduled for 9 a.m.-12:15 .m. on Thursday, Feb. 14 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
GT/RA's other two district qualifiers placed third.
At 113 pounds, Alex Hoffman won by forfeit over West Lyon's Kyle Vierck, but then lost 4-1 to Pocahontas Area's Mitch Brinkman in the final.
That forced a wrestleback against West Sioux's Jose Montes with Montes eking out a 2-0 victory.
At 126 pounds, Austin Thompson was pinned by Central Lyon/George-Little Rock's Colby McIntire in 3:35. Thompson came back with a 7-2 decision over Okoboji's Kaleb Vanderpool, but did not get a wrestleback.
