A lot of great things happened when students and parents from Estherville Area Christian Homeschool (TEACH) served a wonderful meal to couples at Estherville Good Samaritan Society Monday.
The couples included Larry and Dora Aldrich, Roger and Rachel Moe, Albert and Cece Finnegan, Dorothy and Clem Mergen, Gerald and Bernice Weber, Ben and Martha Haigh and Dorothy and Maurice Thompson. Altogther, the couples represent 363.5 years of marriage.
The students and moms were Elizabeth and Natalie Lausen and mom Kohlene, Christina and Isaac Jorgenson and mom Deb and Ruth and Ethan Marth and mom Bobbie Sue.
Also contributing to the event were Midweek/Catechism youth of Immanuel Lutheran who decorated and donated picture frames. Couples had their choice of "backgrounds" where they could have their photo taken - a balloon arch or a table with flowers.
This was a wonderful example of lifelong love and devotion for the kids. Hopefully, they'll also be lucky enough to eventually find marriage partners with whom they can spend the rest of their lives.
It was also a great example for the couples of what's right with today's youth. These kids pitched in and served their seniors, a great community service project.
Let's hope that such activities continue for a long time to come. Everyone in the community benefits as a result.
