It was a battle from start to finish for the 12th-ranked Iowa Lakes men against North Iowa Area Community College on Wednesday.
The two teams were tied at 38-38 at halftime, but the Lakers' ability to make some plays in the final minute of the game allowed the hosts to pick up the 91-87 victory.
The Lakers used a 10-2 run to start the second half, but NIACC rallied and the lead switched hands several times.
A basket by Ben Shellim in the final 10 seconds allowed the Lakers to make it a two possession game and NIACC couldn't connect on its final attempts as Kelly Madison secured the rebound.
Deondre Parks led the Lakers with 29 points and 12 rebounds.
Shellim finished with 20 points and Josh Schaben finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds after a big second half.
Madison finished with nine points, Kevin Larson had six and Colton Neff and Tate Harmon each had four.
David Humphries led the Trojans with 29 points.
Iowa Lakes (19-5 overall, 10-2 in the conference) travels to New Providence to play Quakerdale Prep on Saturday. Tip off is at 7 p.m.
