Armstrong under a boil order

February 14, 2013
Estherville Daily News

ARMSTRONG - Armstrong is under a boil order until at least today to a water problem caused by maintenance work on the city's two water towers.

Because more work is needed, a boil order has been prompted b the DNR.

It is recommended residents continue boiling water at least through the weekend as a precaution.

When there is a boil order in place. The DNR recommends you take the following steps:

n Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only water that has been boiled for drinking, diluting fruit juices, all other food preparation and brushing teeth.

n Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic ice maker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.

n Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water. It's also important to let water cool sufficiently before drinking.
